LANC's objectives are:
  • Increase the number of infants who are breastfed in the early postpartum period
  • Increase the number of infants who continue breastfeeding to 12 months of age or older
  • Provide accurate and consistant evidence-based breastfeeding information to families, health professionals, and the community
  • Encourage breastfeeding-friendly policies and procedures in all area hospitals, clinics, and workplaces
  • Promote a greater interest in, and understanding of, breastfeeding within the general population

Projects LANC has helped foster include:

  • Inception of a breastfeeding support center where women receive help regardless of income or insurance
  • Triage phone-line that gives basic breastfeeding help, and further matches mothers with lactation professionals according to personal and financial need
  • Community support groups which range from peer-lead La Leche League groups to IBCLC-facilitated groups at local hospitals, WIC offices, and private lactation offices
  • Family events, such as World Breastfeeding Week celebrations, and various community fairs

With impassioned supporters, LANC strives to make a difference in the lives of mothers, babies, and families.
